I couldn’t recommend Ed at Somerset Osteopathic Clinic enough. Treatment of the source is his priority and it has made a huge difference to myself. He also puts you as the customer first and takes pride in his treatment, which is excellent. Theres no constant monthly appointments just stringing you along, but just treats you when you need it. We started with 6 weekly appointments and are now approaching 6 monthly. This is a real credit to the approach he takes and the effectiveness of his treatment. Everything has also been explained in such a great way on terms I understand. Emma on bookings has been really easy to deal with and ever so patient with me with how sporadic i can be with communication. If your looking for an osteopath, definitely call the team here. After having a painful leg that kept giving out when bending, and hip and lower back pain for several years, I was beginning to think perhaps I would have to put up with it. I had been to a physiotherapist and an osteopath previously, and the problem didn't go away. But then I thought I'll give it one more go to get this fixed, as I found it so debilitating & frustrating. Then I met Ed he was able to get me to relax eventually and kept reassuring me, and telling me No you don't have to put up with this "I can Fix this for you". How right he was, it was such gentle treatment, you don't think it's going to have any impact on you, but believe me it certainly does. After each session I was feeling more pain free and relaxed. Thanks so much Ed for everything. Julie Posted on Billy Thurlow Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Failed knee surgery: I was diagnosed with grade 4 arthritis in both knees in 2021. This was preventing me completing any form of exercise I used to enjoy such as cycling, rowing and even running around with my young children – the result was always pain and swelling which lasted for days. I also experienced ‘clicking’ and ‘locking’ of both knees. After a long process I was referred for (private) surgery on my left knee, which failed and was complicated by a large haematoma (which had to be drained several times). This left me with more significant swelling and continued pain a year after the operation. Effectively, I was no better but had endured months of recovery, without the ability to use my knee and forced to rest. My surgeon advised a further operation to correct this but when I attended pre-op meeting, he was planning surgery on the wrong knee, so I lost a lot of confidence in the process and put everything on hold. I went to see Ed and discussed the situation. Ed took time to understand the context and history and after a couple of sessions with him, the swelling in my knee reduced significantly. After the third session I felt my left knee was fully recovered with no swelling and no pain, and my right knee was also much better, with swelling completely gone. I was able to run around with my children which was not possible in the years before. I’ve also started cycling and rowing again without issue. Ed has taken a very careful approach, hasn’t forced regular appointments and in fact, the sessions are some time apart as he feels is right for my recovery and despite this, I’m able to do things that were not possible for a number of years. I highly recommend this option and where possible avoid surgery as there is another way which isn’t offered through the usual GP referral process. Huge thanks to Ed and the team! Posted on Anne Sharp Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband saw Ed for leg and back pain, and a few sessions over a short period got him back to full activity. Getting help with my own milder but more entrenched limitations, it's been so interesting to realise how individually tailored Ed's approach is. For both of us, everything has been gentle and well explained, and while my sessions are widely spaced and ongoing, I'm confident in Ed's declared intention that his treatments are not unduly prolonged - the trajectory feels good. Posted on Dominic Ford Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had been in an awful lot of pain in my lower back for about 4 months. After failing to get assistance via my GP, I decided to look elsewhere. Quite simply the Somerset Osteopathic Clinic was nice and local, so I thought give it a go. My goal was to get to a better place physically and particularly ease my back pain. While my recovery took several sessions before I fealt any improvement, I am now definitely better. The osteopathic techniques delivered to me were not what I expected, being quite gentle in comparison to physiotherapy or physical training remedies I have experienced before and initially I wasn't sure this was for me. However the bottom line is I feel better, so job done. Many thanks to Ed and Emma. Regards Dom F. Posted on Lesley Myhill Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Having had a painful aching hip for several years (I was thinking I was heading for a hip replacement) of which that pain then travelled down my leg. My body slowly became less flexible, I was putting it down to the aging process and being unfit. When the pain and discomfort was becoming tiresome and physiotherapy wasn’t really working I found Ed. In a very relaxed and calming atmosphere Ed gave his full undivided attention. His work is remarkable in a way that he works on your troubled areas without any discomfort at all and you actually wonder if his process of gentle movements and deep concentration is going to make any difference but I can assure you it does. His knowledge and expertise is amazing, he explained my problem, giving me full reassurance that actually it wasn’t a problem, it was something that he could solve and I’m delighted to say that for the first time in a very long time l feel positive that I can overcome what I was beginning to look at as a disability and it was basically down to tense muscles due to life’s everyday challenges. If your hesitating don’t hold back, I wholeheartedly recommend Ed, don’t suffer pain and discomfort when theres a possibility it can be cured. Posted on Nicola Cooper Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. High praise for Ed and his expertise. He has provided treatment where previous professionals merely provided a sticking plaster. The follow up care outside of in clinic appointments was highly professional and helped get the treatment needed from my GP. With his treatment i was able to avoid harsh drug treatments requested by a professor in neurology for ongoing and debilitating post concussion symptoms. Posted on Dave Rogers Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had been in a lot of discomfort in my hip and lower back, which my doctor had put down to Sciatica. Went to see Ed and he worked his magic. It was not Sciatica, but a problem with my knee which was causing the problem. Once he had sorted that, my pain was gone. Thanks Ed Posted on Aaron Bester Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Shantal has been fantastic, successful diagnosis and a treatment plan has meant that in a few sessions my symptoms have but disappeared however always knowing that if I'd had any problems someone would have been available to help on the end of the phone. She explained the issues and exactly what she was going to do to rectify it and gave me stretching exercises to ease the pain and speed up recovery. Thank you. Posted on Tanya Ogden Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have received treatment from Ed on an individual basis and have also attended his small group courses/workshops. Ed truly has a unique healing gift, reinforced by a wealth of knowledge and experience and complemented by an attentive and compassionate manner. Through Ed’s gentle and intuitive practice, I have gained understanding of how my body has held deeply buried trauma and have been guided, at my own pace, how to process emotions and experiences and become less dysregulated in my body. The tangible benefits of his treatment have included a reduction in physical pain; an increasing ability to manage triggers and experiences and an awareness of working with my body to feel safe and heal, significantly improving my wellbeing and quality of life. I cannot recommend Ed and all the clinic staff highly enough. Since then Ed has focused on specialising in functional and cranial osteopathy due to its effectiveness and diverse clinical applications. Although Ed see's patients of all ages from new born onwards, Ed specialises in chronic pain and complex case management. His work attracts patients from all walks of life both locally and internationally. Key to the way Ed works is finding the 'primary lesion', which is the source of the pain. Once this is found Ed uses a variety of techniques to help the patient to process this, principally using cranial and functional techniques. Ed often sees patients who have seen multiple practitioners previously for the same issues, which remain unresolved. Using careful examination, it is often possible to find the underlying cause and a lasting resolution, being pain relief, increased motion and a happier healthier body, mind and spirit.Find out more about Ed and the Clinic here.Karl KennettMassage TherapistKarl’s keen interest in human health, and fitness stems from his 22-year career in the Royal Navy, where he gained significant expertise coaching and rehabilitation experience. Emma on bookings has been really easy to deal with and ever so patient with me with how sporadic i can be with communication. If your looking for an osteopath, definitely call the team here. Posted on Julie Hawkins Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you.
