A number of years ago, I suffered from back pain that was severe enough to warrant a visit to my doctor. I was offered painkillers and advised to rest. Whilst effective in the short term, this did not really address the underlying cause. Not being one to take things lying down, I searched for a more immediate and longer lasting solution. The answer I discovered was chiropractic. I was so impressed with the results that I felt compelled to find out more. So I started to research the subject with a view to studying to become a chiropractor. Five years later, my dreams were realised and I established my clinic at my home in Brackley. I am proud to be a member of the Royal College of Chiropractors with a specialism in pain management and Mc Timoney Chiropractic Association and an registered with the General Chiropractic Council (Registration Number 01386). I am covered by all major private healthcare companies but have chosen to step away from dealing with AXA PPP and BUPA. Over the years, I’ve treated people of all ages, ranging from the very active and sporty to natural couch potatoes! Chiropractic is a therapy used to treat back pain and other problems with the bones, muscles and joints. Chiropractors treat all areas of the body, but particularly concentrate on the spine. They typically use their hands to make adjustments to the joints in order to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility. Chiropractic is tailored to the individual so a chiropractor will draw on other treatments such as acupuncture and taping depending on the client’s needs. Chiropractors treat the cause of the problem and aim for long-term relief, not just a short-term quick fix. With chiropractic care, emphasis is on prevention and your chiropractor will give you exercises and advice to prevent reoccurrences as well as help with recovery. Chiropractors are healthcare professionals and the chiropractic profession is regulated by law. The statutory regulator is the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and it is illegal to practise as a chiropractor without being registered with the GCC.
