Colonics hydrotherapy is a naturopathic treatment designed to rid the body of harmful toxins and unnecessary waste. Warm filtered water is pumped into the colon using disposable tubing to dislodge trapped waste and faecal matter. A treatment usually lasts around an hour (around 60 litres of water are used) and you can resume normal activities straight afterwards. Why would someone have the treatment? This can vary from person to person. Often it is for genetic reasons (some people have an extended colon and have difficulty going to the loo) while others have a pattern of constipation which does not respond to laxatives. Often, people are suffering from the effects of high stress levels, lack of exercise, or poor diet. They find that colonic irrigation gets their bowel movements back to normal, helping them to manage their health better. Trapped waste can cause fatigue, headaches, skin woes and overall feelings of negativity. Does everyone benefit from treatment? I believe so – if a client is having problems with their gut, which can be from skin issues to digestion, a colonic will help with this. Many clients report an overwhelming sense of wellbeing following a treatment. What does it feel like? At the start of the procedure, you may experience a sensation of wanting to go to the loo, but this usually passes within the first few minutes. We use special massage techniques on your tummy to stimulate the release of stored matter – this is a gentle massage and the whole procedure should not be painful, more like a gentle internal massage. Is it true a colonic can help with weight loss? While I never weigh my clients, most people do feel lighter after a colonic. It is not unusual to eliminate between six to 12 pounds of waste over a series of four to five treatments. In addition, if a client has been ingesting food to which they are intolerant (resulting in it being trapped in the body) then it is likely the body will lose weight in the form of expelled toxins and water. What are the other benefits? A colonic can clarify the skin (the skin is an excretory organ, meaning the likes of acne and rosacea can be triggered by trapped toxins), improve mood and wellbeing, increase energy and result in a flatter tummy. Lastly – is it safe? Yes – just make sure that your therapist is a registered hydrotherapist or a member of ARCH (The Association of Registered Colon Hydrotherapists). And yes, the procedure itself is safe – at Naturality, we use a low water pressure system that doesn’t cause any bowel damage and disposable tubing is used for maximum hygiene. I'd picked up a bacterial infection in hospital that wasn't going away and I had been advised by my doctor to take a forth round of antibiotics when I contacted Simon. Simon was very reassuring and worked with me to find a way back to feeling well without resorting to more drugs while I was breast feeding. A few weeks on I feel 100% better. I needed an appointment as a matter of urgency and I was not let down by Naturality Wellness Centre. They had a cancellation and I received a phone call for an appointment. I was relieved and started smiling again. Thank God.Janie is an absolutely wonderful lady. She made me feel so relaxed with conversations about absolutely anything you can think of. I hadn't been to the loo for at least 8 - 9 days ( how I here you ask, why did'n't I explode ). I needed colonic hydrotherapy and Naturality Wellness Centre was the one I chose and so glad I did.I feel so much lighter, happier and better and I know that I am going to get myself back there at lease 3 - 6 months time, without a shadow of a doubt.Thank you Janie and Naturality Wellness Centre. :-)Flame Emin09:37 04 Jan 22I love this place! First time to have a colonic hydrotherapy and Janie made it the best experience ever. I was anxious at first but Janie put me at ease and informed about the process all through the treatment. I would highly recommend the centre. Professionalism at its peak and best customer/patient/client experience. I will be going back again and will preach (LOL) to all my friends. It's a very stylish, clean clinic, very welcoming. Janie is lovely, friendly & made me very comfortable throughout, she is also extremely knowledgeable about gut health. I'd picked up a bacterial infection in hospital that wasn't going away and I had been advised by my doctor to take a forth round of antibiotics when I contacted Simon. I was despairing about the fact that I didn't seem to be getting well and was just going round in circles with various infections. Simon was very reassuring and worked with me to find a way back to feeling well without resorting to more drugs while I was breast feeding. A few weeks on I feel 100% better. I was delighted to have been listened to; his approach was very reassuring and the wellness plan he gave me was simple and worked! It was a fantastic service - a quick response. He finds the cause of the problem like no other,using his own technique of muscle testing. I have seen many practitioners in the past as well as Chiropractors and I can say he really nailed my issue quickly and addressed it effectively.It was not a big issue but it made all the difference for me in the gym today. I lifted heavy than ever and without any pain. As a Chiropractor myself I was really impressed with his neurological approach and I can reccomend Dr Simon King to many others out there.
