Bev has 25 years of experience and qualified as an ICAEW fellow in March 2012. She’s well respected and commended for leaving a successful 20-year senior career at a large top-ten national accountancy firm to follow her dreams. From the outset AbacusBean made a heavy investment in the kit and equipment, mirroring that of the big boys in the industry, not the cheaper less efficient software that other small firms use. This has paid off in leaps and bounds, although we might be small, we are mighty! Being a single parent in a male-dominated firm, Bev aspired to create a fair, inclusive, and thriving workplace, and in doing so has set new standards in Teesside’s accountancy sector, initiating 12:30 Friday finishes, flexible working (including fully remote), time off for dependants, decent pay rises, six-week holidays plus bank holidays, free onsite gym, cinema, and team meals and treats. Bev’s innovation in her field led to her being named the 23rd most inspirational business leader in Teesside 2022 and was shortlisted for the Institute of Directors award in October 2021.
