Whilst training, Tom mainly prepared accounts for a variety of businesses, including PLCs and consolidated accounts for large groups of companies. As with Tom Rhodes, he has actively involved in most areas of accountancy and tax, but Tom's specialism and passion lies in tax. Tax is an area encompassing countless different categories, but the main areas of expertise are personal tax compliance, corporation tax, VAT and inheritance tax. Tom's main source of passion for tax derives from how much value can be added to a business or individual taxpayer through effective tax planning. He's also keen on avoiding giving business owners a nasty surprise with an out of the blue tax bill!Outside of accountancy and tax, Tom's hobbies include coaching and playing football and running. Tom RhodesTom RhodesTom Rhodes Tom qualified as a chartered accountant (ICAEW) in 2018. Tom's main role whilst training was accounts preparation and tax compliance. Whilst he is still actively involved in this side of the practice, he also now undertakes business consultancy, tax planning and audit work. Working with businesses of all types has also helped him build a range of knowledge in corporation and business tax, as well as personal tax planning.In common with Tom Lowry, he has a range of expertise, with his particular specialist experience being in technical accountancy issues and business consultancy services such as cashflows and valuations.His main hobbies outside of work are sport, he plays football and cricket but is interested in a wide variety of sports from rugby to snooker. With the advancements in real-time information in recent years, there is no reason why accountants can't provide regular management information to business owners.Rather than the historic approach of meeting business owners after the financial year has ended, to review old numbers and conclude with a surprising tax bill, we use the tools at our disposal to plan ahead for these tax liabilities and even discuss ways of mitigating them. We would liken ourselves to being that of your own personal Finance Director, but at a fraction of the cost. With planning and forecasting in mind, we also roll our fees up in to a monthly fixed fee bill. This has the advantage of helping businesses with cashflow, something that we know is a priority, especially in these challenging times. Knowing your monthly outgoings and being able to budget for them rather than being hit with a bigger one-off bill at the year end is preferable to many businesses. Our VisionAt LP Connect our vision as a firm is continue helping businesses to grow. We do this by effectively communicating the businesses financial position on a real time basis.
