From the age of 11, it was simply a normal, integral part of a healthy life, a principle embraced by his parents and grandparents alike. As a competitive swimmer training and racing at a national level alongside future Olympians, chiropractic was the key to unlocking his body’s potential, helping him perform at his best and recover with strength. It was this firsthand experience of living with proactive, supportive healthcare that planted a seed: a desire to help others build that same foundation for a lifetime of wellbeing. This desire led him to university, where his understanding of chiropractic began to transform. Hearing remarkable stories of healing, he realised the profession’s potential reached far beyond the world of athletic performance. It was a powerful tool for profound change in people’s lives. After graduating, he began his career as an associate, but his journey of discovery was far from over. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, he dedicated his time outside the clinic to seminars and advanced training, determined to grasp the deeper meaning of his craft.He was guided by a simple philosophy: if you aren’t growing, you’re dying. Standing still was not an option. As an associate, he felt a growing need for the freedom to explore, to learn, and to build a practice that reflected his own evolving vision. He knew there was more to chiropractic than a quick fix, and he wanted to create a space where patients could embark on a true journey to health, one that he could guide with authenticity and unwavering commitment. In Autumn 2025, Haelan Chiropractic opened its doors. The name, derived from an old Anglo-Saxon word meaning ‘to heal’ and ‘the journey itself,’ perfectly captures the essence of our practice. Matt graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, but his introduction to chiropractic began much earlier. He received his first adjustment at the age of 11, after his parents — having seen their own personal benefits from care — chose to support his health from a young age. His mum had experienced relief from neck pain and headaches, while his dad was helped with sciatica.A former national-level swimmer, Matt trained alongside elite athletes, developing a strong understanding of performance, recovery, and resilience — qualities that now shape his clinical approach.He views health as multifaceted, combining spinal care with a focus on sleep, nutrition, and movement to create lasting wellbeing. In 2024, he completed certification with the Academy of Chiropractic Nutrition, making him one of only a handful of chiropractors in the UK with this qualification.After qualifying, Matt began practice in his hometown of Swindon before joining a high-performing clinic in Warwickshire.
